When customizing a Redmine theme, having a safe way to save, restore, and reuse your settings is essential.
BRT Customizer includes a built-in backup system designed to keep your work protected at all times.
Why Backups Matter #
Theme customization is usually an iterative process:
You test visual changes
You refine colors and layout
You adjust branding over time
The backup feature allows you to experiment freely, knowing you can always go back to a previous state.
Downloading a Backup #
At the bottom of the customizer screen you will find the Backup section.
From there you can:
Download a backup file in JSON format
Store it locally or in version control
Create multiple backups for different stages (test, staging, production)
💡 Backups are theme-specific (Zenmine or Boostmine).
What Is Included in a Backup? #
A backup file contains:
All customization settings for the selected theme
Colors, layout options, images, typography, and extra CSS
The enabled / disabled state of the customizations
It does not modify or include any actual theme files.
Restoring a Backup #
To restore a backup:
Select a previously downloaded JSON file
Click Restore backup
Confirm the action
All settings are immediately restored in the customizer and visible in the preview.

Moving settings from staging to production
Reverting unwanted changes
Testing alternative designs
Preparing updates or redesigns
